Herbalife’s 6 Day Eat Clean Challenge

On June 21, I finally agreed to do the Herbalife ‘6 Day Eat Clean Challenge’ with a coworker of mine.

The program includes:

  • 2 shakes a day (meal replacements)
  • 2 healthy snacks
  • 1 real meal
  • 1 detox tea
  • 1-3 Total Control supplements (a fat-loss and metabolism-boosting tablet)
  • A secret Facebook support group for tracking food consumption, including pictures of every meal, and accountability
  • Water, water, water

The program does NOT include:

  • Alcohol
  • Sugar (meaning no coffee creamer for me)

My results:

  • 5.3 pounds lost in 6 days (8 pounds in 14 days)
  • $100 won (each challenge has a cash prize)
  • Skin cleared up, energy skyrocketed and I had the best sleep I’ve had in years

My thoughts on the program:

For starters, it is exactly 1 month today (July 22) and I have officially lost 12.2 pounds!!!!!!!!

Secondly, I want to note that until this challenge, I had lost all faith in myself to achieve any goal. I had failed at so many weight loss attempts due to stupid excuses that I began this challenge thinking there was NO WAY I would succeed (especially without alcohol).

I was wrong.

The first few days were challenging as I had to find new ways to stay busy during the times I’d typically be reaching for a glass of wine (every day after work & on weekends). But, with greater ease than I thought, I pushed through each day, sticking to the plan 100%. Not once did I cheat, miss a meal or snack, forget to document my food or have a sip of alcohol.

The accountability piece—having the group to check in with—was most crucial. We cheered each other on, so I didn’t want to let them down!

What most don’t know about the timing of this challenge is that my doctor had called on the start day and informed me that, per previous blood work, my liver levels were four times the normal range. In her worried tone, my doctor immediately ordered a stomach ultrasound along with another round of tests. A week later, they analyzed my blood count again and my liver levels were back to normal. IN SIX DAYS.

Wow, just wow. Not only did I lose more than 5 pounds in less than a week, but I got my body working properly again.

This program ended up being the first program in a long time that I truly trusted. Herbalife coaches were right—if you follow it properly, you will lose. The beauty of this regimen is that it does the work for you, requiring minimal thinking, calorie counting, meal prepping and self-reliance— all things that typically lead to exhaustion and quitting.

What’s next?

I’ve decided to become an official Herbalife Coach! I’m already board certified in nutrition and have been guiding women to wellness and body acceptance through my blog and individual health coaching for years. Now, I believe in the product more than ever before and want to share this miracle worker with others.
